That is a konkani word for “Did you hear”. That is also the name of the Konkani speech recognition and synthesis I am trying to build.
And then that is something else. It is also a word that is the name of thousands of married Konkani guys as addressed by their respective wives. Can you actually imagine your wife calling you “Did you hear” while sitting at a distance of 2 ft from you ?
And now imagine yourself reply : “Ofcourse, I am not deaf…. although sometimes I wish I were.” 😀

I read your Google ban posts and all I can say is that I can’t wait for you to take on Microsoft and Wikipedia next. You, Sir, are the techno-mahatma; abstaining from Google’s pleasures for the pursuit of non-reliance*. I bow to you.
Also, It has made me think about quitting my self imposed restrictions over drinking Pepsi. It has always been CocaCola for me. In fact, I think i will even give up on Cola. And then it’s back to nariyal pani;)

well, not sure ….maybe there is more being attributed to the google ban than it actually deserves.
the last thing i want to be confused for is an anti-MNC, Mahatma Gandhi’s swadeshi nonsense ( even if his other ideas were great etc. )
living sans wikipedia is not a big deal at all…microsoft again mite be hard to start with ..but 100s out there do it …and i am comfy ( not expert ) with linux ….so shud be okay..
“itte manta” i though meant “what do you say” ..anyway…what is the word that the husband uses to address his wife “with respect” …I don’t know if a single language out there has one ..atleast that is still used in that sense 😦

And Linux is great. Just not (that) user friendly. Great that you are comfortable with it. As for swadeshi, insular economies are anachronistic, with all due respect to the idea. And personally I shudder at the idea of a Google ban. Half my work gets done through it. Thats why I admire your stance:)

Hey what about “chotu ki ammaaaa”,that’s respect for ‘her’ maternity 🙂 or on second thought….to ‘his’ virility 😉
I hear from sanjika that “chotu ki ammaaaa” is a standard word for addressing one’s wife in sinhala language. Respect aspect ….gotta verify…
