Sadhu Claus and the Sadhu shot January 1, 2007

…yeah I always knew that inter-faith/inter religion dialogue, ( if at all such a thing exists) is too important to be left to the politicians. 🙂

One of the comments to the post from where I found the picture says it all :

Man, that’s a great photo. Surely Santa is just a minor Hindu avatar anyway. I tried to convince one of my New York Hindu friends, whose daughter wanted a Christmas tree, to buy one and decorate it with Hindu icons. How cool would that be? Swastik at the top, jasmine garlands winding around, little Ganesha ornaments, Krishna’s flute, pats of butter (wax), the Sanskirt OM characters, some little bells…

On the more cynical side, it is likely that the sadhu went home and got himself a (much needed) shower after enduring Santa’s hand on his shoulder. 😉 ( while Santa confessed at the nearest Church 😉 )

Now, I found this picture from the HT site. It would be interesting to know if the photograph below is the picture of the sadhu shooting the picture above :).

Why?

Talking about inter religion celebration of festivities, seems to be a trend to display one’s intimacy and change of thoughts, but when its a global call like that of either a fatwa order or an demolition of the Masjid, then I doubt there could be clear thought against one’s own conscience!

Sad enough, its what you do in troubled times that matters…rather than on festive occasions…especially since the latter doesnt seem to influence the former. 😦
