Sharath Rao is a Research Engineer at Yahoo! Applied Research, Santa Clara, California.
He was a student at Little Rock Indian School, Brahmavar from 1987-91 and 1993-99 when he graduated from Class XII. During the intervening period from 1991 to 1993 he studied at Army School, Narangi at Guwahati. Following his secondary schooling, he joined National Institute of Technology Karntaka (NITK, formerly KREC ) in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. After graduating from NITK with a Bachelors in Jun 2003, he was a Research Assistant in Department of Electrical Communication at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore from July 2003 to Jun 2004.
From Sep 2004 to May 2005, he was a Graduate Student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Boston University, USA. In August 2005, he transferred to the Language Technologies Institute, Carnegie Mellon University where he specialized in algorithms for Computer processing of speech and language. He graduated in August 2007.
